How to make folded paper flower " Jeans' Art Dolls"

Step One:
For this project I used my Pazzle. Use could also use a Cricut machine or a circle punch. If you do not have a punch of cutting machine, use a small circle object, such as a cup or a spool of thread, to trace circles onto the back of double sided decorative paper scraps. The size of the circle is approximately the size that your finished flower will be. You need approximately six circles for each flower.
Step Two:
Pick up one circle and fold it in half, make sure the fold is crisp and clean. I use a bone folder, but any object like a spoon will work. If you are using single sided paper the decorative side shows on the outside of the fold.

Step Three:
Fold the circle in half again so the paper looks like a piece of pie. Repeat this for the other three circles.

You should have four pieces of pie that looks like this

Step Four
Begin to glue down the (pies shapes) make sure to glue the pieces together at their points. Overlap one side slightly so the petals fan out.

Step Five
Repeat Step 3, adding one petal (pies shape) at a time around the center point in a spiral pattern, until all the petals come together to make a circular shape. The folded part of the paper should lift up slightly from the base of the shape.

Step Six
Lift the top layer of each pie shape that you glued down and begin folding the top layer toward the middle of the flower.  Repeat this on all four sections.
Step Seven
After you have completed folding all the tops layers in begin by lifting each section and glue to your base.

Step Eight
Pierce the middle of the flower and place a brad through the center of the flower. This will resemble the center of your flower. Ink the edges of the paper.

How to make a Bling Flourish "Jean's Art Dolls" (JADS)

Step One:
Using an acrylic sheet, cut out your flourish of choice using a cutting machine or die cut machine. I used the Pazzle Expression.

Step Two
Remove the acrylic cut out and place on a non-stick surface. I find placing the cutout on wax paper works very well.

Step Three
Squeeze a small amount of Tacky glue in a container and using a wood skewer begin placing the rhinestones on the acrylic cutout. Place the glue using the skewer on the cutout, not on the rhinestones. Continue using the cutout as a guide to follow along with the rhinestones until the entire cutout is covered. I like to create a pattern using small and medium sized rhinestone. I use four small rhinestones then add one medium size. Continue with this pattern throughout the entire flourish.
Step Four
Let the piece completely dry before lifting off the wax paper. Once dry you lift your bling flourish off the wax paper!

'The Boys of Fall" Scraps of Darkness

have been waiting for the right paper to come along for these two photos. The photos are of my father's Varsity G team and his football team. In the top photo my father is the man on the left in the suit jacket, he was 17-18 at the time of this photo. He looks so much older than the rest of the team, he looks old enough to be the coach. In the bottom photo, is my father#22 and his older brother #23.

I am so happy to have these photos they are from the 40's, I think it is so cool that my father and his siblings attended an intergrated school; pretty forward thinking for a small town.
I used March's "Vintage Revelry" kits at Scraps of Darkness.

"Our Life" Scraps of Darkness

This is a photo of me and my niece, I am on the left and my niece is one the right. I believe we both were 5 years old at the time of the photo.

Remember ***Scraps of Darkness****

A new LO title " Remember"

A LO of my mother's sister when she was about 17 years old. Everytime I see this photo, I think of a cool Beatnik lady traveling the world in the 50's stopping by every coffee shop and having conversations centered around all the arts. Funny, my aunt is eccentric and artsy.
A couple clo se-ups. Here showcases the fabulous mists that come in the March's Kit by Scraps of Darkness.
I used the mists on the Eiffel Tower, the black rose trim and on one of the Prima Flowers.
When I printed the photo it printed with streaks, not the best quality.  I was going to toss out the photo but when I sharted looking at the photo, I really liked the streaked quality, so I used it.

Memories Live Forever-Tyvek and Newspaper flower tutorial at SOD

This is a photo of my brother when he was in grade school. He is my only sibling and there is 19 years between us, my mom missed her master plan by one month. She wanted and planned to have her children 20 yrs apart...crazy huh? This is my LO using the Burned Tyvek...love the stuff!
I used the cricut to cut out the clipboard flourishes.  I heat embossed the flourishes with a couple coats of copper embossing powder and stamped the warm embossing with a rubberstamp to get the texture.  I then inked the flourish with Distressing ink and Tattered Angels.
Here is a close up of a really easy and cheap flower made of telephone book pages.
To find out how to create these flowers check out my tutorial over at Scraps of Darkness Tutorials
Here a couple shots of how well the mists from the kit work.  The mists yield a great result everytime.
A close up of the burned Tyvek, I love the vintage distressed look of the burned Tyvek. This technique is so easy and fun. To find out how to use the burned Tyvek in one of your scrapbooking projects check out my tutorial over at Scraps of Darkness Tutorial

Scrap of Darkness " Vintage Revelry Sketch"

This was based on the exclusive sketch for SOD created by me.
The photo is of Lena Horne....when the paper arrived, I knew I was creating a LO of a famous Cotton Club artist. Love Lena...she is one of my favs. Unfortunately, Lena was born in the wrong era where her talents was overlooked because of the color of her skin...if living today, she would the mega Halley Berry but better.... the looks and acting ability of Halley and the voice of Alicia Keyes.
Here are couple details of the LO.
In this shot, this shows just how awesome the heat embossing powder is that comes with  this month's kit. The embossing powder is a superior product!

Another example of the mists on the KaiserCraft birdcage!

This is a great shot of how beautiful the Moon Shadow mists are.  Originally, the flowers were just plain white boring satin flowers, until I added the mist to the flowers.  I love these mists, by far the most superior..did I happen to mention, I love these mists..LOL.
